Gracious God of abundant love, we know that You can discern the thoughts and intentions of our hearts. We also know that You understand what it means to be human. Forgive us, O Lord, for the times when we have grumbled and complained when things were difficult. For the times when we have been envious or greedy, wanting to be first, instead of generous and merciful, putting others before ourselves. For walking far away from You, instead of remaining near. Forgive us, we pray, and renew our hearts. Help us hold fast to You. And hear us now, in the stillness and quiet, as we speak to you, in honest confession…Amen.

Gracious God, source of all healing, in Jesus Christ you heal the sick and mend the broken. We bless you for this oil pressed from the fruits of the earth, given to us as a sign of healing and forgiveness, and of the fullness of life you give. By your Spirit, come upon all who receive this ministry of compassion, that they may receive your healing touch and be made whole, to the glory of Jesus Christ our Redeemer. Amen.
