When you realise that you need to lose weight what is the first thing that you do? Search for a diet and then start on it? This would be the approach that most people take, but with most diets, they make you stick to a strict regime that must be followed to lose the weight. Instead you could find some lose weight tips and then follow them. To lose weight you do not necessarily have to follow a difficult and awkward diet plan, you just need to make a few small changes to your lifestyle.

Follow these lose weight tips to watch the pounds come off quickly and easily

– Walk to work or school instead of taking the car or bus. This is very easy to do, plus you will save money too. A brisk walk can burn a surprising amount of calories without being too strenuous. This is perfect if you are a beginner to any form of exercise.

– Eat a large plate of vegetables. This will help you to feel full, and most vegetables are very low in calories, so you won;t be going over your daily limit. Avoid sweet vegetables like swede, parsnip,carrot and sweet potatoes. These are high in calories so opt for green vegetables like green beans which are loaded with fibre and low in calories.

– Don’t weight yourself too often. This will help you to avoid feeling demotivated if you haven’t lost weight overnight which is very unlikely, not to mention unsafe.

– Never skip breakfast. This is the most important meal of the day, and kick starts your metabolism in the morning after at least 8 hours away from eating. Your metabolism need to be keep in great shape if you want to make it easier to lose the weight

– Don’t eat sugar. Sugar is the sure-fire way to gain weight, and not lose any. It causes you to store the excess sugar in your blood as fat which you just don’t need. Sugar can be found in many processed foods, even in slimming foods and snacks, so be very careful when checking labels.

– Boost your metabolism. This is definitely the best thing you can do for your weight loss. Your metabolism is the rate at which you burn calories, so the higher it is, the more calories your will burn and therefore the more weight you will lose. Don’t waste your efforts dieting with a slow metabolism, you can burn more fat with the same amount of dieting efforts if you just increase your metabolic rate

Tips on Losing Weight After Pregnancy

 It is normal to gain weight during pregnancy as it indicates that both – you and your baby are getting adequate nutrition. However, many new moms find losing weight a big problem after pregnancy. Do you know it is not healthy to start with a crash diet immediately after your delivery? This can lead to major health problems and may also cause post partum depression. Your body requires an adequate supply of nutrients even after pregnancy in order to recover. In fact, you need to have a better supply of nutrients if you are breastfeeding your baby. Also you are losing additional 500 calories every day if you are breastfeeding. So, don’t rush, when you can lose weight safely.

Often doctors recommend you not to aim at strenuous exercise schedule for a period of six weeks. However, you can opt for walking to improve your health and stamina. Walking will also help you lose weight and deal with post partum depression.
 
Tips on losing weight

Get as many fruits, vegetables and whole grains as possible. Go for foods with high quantity of fiber so that you get important nutrients and also feel full.
Opt for low-fat dairy products, such as yoghurt and skimmed milk. The best sources of protein include lean cuts of beef and pork, fish, and beans.
Junk food is not good for you, so avoid storing junk food items in your refrigerator. Never skip meals as you may deprive yourself from vital nutrients.
Keep yourself busy with the baby so that you have less time to think about food. You should eat only when you feel hungry and not when you feel tempted to do so.
Feed your baby before you start exercising. Avoid vigorous exercise such as jumping and jarring motions. Instead, opt for walking as the safest exercise. Take your baby along in a stroller or baby carrier and walk in a non-polluted area around your locality.
Go for abdominal exercises to strengthen your abdominal muscles.

Raspberry Tips and Tricks

The small amount of work you put into your raspberry patch is well rewarded. Have you seen the cost of raspberries in the grocery store? You can go big if you like, or keep your patch small by starting with half a dozen strong cultivars from the greenhouse. A small garden is easier to care for than a great big one, and so worth your time.

Site and Soil

Almost any soil is satisfactory for growing raspberry plants. It should be well drained but not too sandy unless irrigation is available.

Select a gently sloping area with good drainage. Poor drainage often increases the chance of late spring frost injury and the occurrence of diseases such as anthracnose and spur blight.

Planting

Plant raspberries in the early spring as soon as the soil can be worked. Work liberal amounts of well-rotted manure or good compost into the soil.

Plant 3 to 5 feet apart in rows 6 feet apart. Spade a deep slit in the soil, place the root ball inside, and carefully fan out the roots. Be sure to water thoroughly. Firmly press the soil around the roots.

Cut back the tops to about 6 inches in height (if needed) to encourage the production of vigorous new canes.

Watering

Mulch is your friend! Raspberries like moisture and lots of water without being boggy. Mulch between rows and around plants, 3-4 inches deep with straw or leaves.

Keep your raspberry patch watered, both to start and continuing on throughout its life.

Fertilizer

For maximum yields, fertilize your raspberry patch every year in the spring (around the middle of May), using about 1 pound of balanced fertilizer for every 20 feet of rows, or 1/2 cup around each plant. Broadcast the fertilizer between rows and work into the top few inches of soil.

Thinning

Raspberry canes grow the first year and produce fruit the next year. Do not allow any fruit to set on the canes the first year after transplanting. Old canes die out and new ones take their place.

Remove old canes as soon as the fruit is harvested. New canes and suckers should be thinned, leaving 6 to 8 strong canes per foot of row or about 7 strong canes per hill, depending on your layout. Trim all remaining canes to about 24 inches high.

Winter Protection

In colder climates like Minnesota, raspberries need protection from alternating cold and warm periods in the late winter. Follow these steps in the fall, around October, before the ground freezes:

After your raspberries are properly thinned, bend remaining canes over close to the ground and secure with dirt or stakes.
Pile straw or leaf mulch 4-6 inches deep over the canes.
Don’t forget to uncover the plants after all danger of frost is past!

Disease Control

Several diseases, the most common of which are viral or fungal in origin, can afflict raspberries. Stop disease in its tracks by planting certified stock from a trusted greenhouse, destroying old canes after harvest, thinning new canes properly, and cultivating carefully.

If you have a disease outbreak, contact your local extension service for help identifying and treating insects or fungal problems.
