Winter weight gain? Dietitian on ABC TV suggests a fiber supplement.

All of winter’s social gatherings may have led to winter weight gain, especially if your physical activity didn’t match up to all the chips, cookies and breads you enjoyed over the season….

Bio-Kult – Probiotic multi-strain Formula (1 Pack – 120 caps)

Bio-Kult is a unique probiotic with a high concentration of 14 strains of beneficial bacteria. Bio-Kult is the recommended probiotic for those following the Gut and Psychology Syndrome Diet and was formulated by a team of doctors including Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride.

The human gut contains trillions of bacteria, comprising over 400 species. The majority are beneficial but some can adversely effect the body’s own defenses. You are exposed every day to hostile bacteria through food and drink. To counterbalance these invaders, you need to ensure a healthy level of “beneficial” bacteria.

The healthy level of good bacteria in the gut can be reduced by factors such as poor diet, antibiotics, foreign travel, stress, aging, and infection. A convenient way of maintaining the healthy balance in the gut is to use a probiotic. Probiotics were first scientifically identified as being helpful by Dr. Metchnikoff, a Nobel Prize winner working at the Pasteur Institute in Paris in 1907.

Bio-Kult, an advanced broad spectrum probiotic, was developed by a team of doctors, nutritionists, and scientists. Bio-Kult contains 14 strains of beneficial bacteria including Bacillus subtilis, a catalase-positive bacterium commonly found in soil. This bacteria is able to tolerate extreme environmental conditions.

Bio-Kult also contains L. Acidophilus, L. Casei, L. Delbruekii.bulgaricus, L. Delbruekii.lactis, L. Helveticus, L. Plantarum, L. Rhamnosus, L. Salivarius, B. Breve, B. Bifidum, B. Infantis, B. Longum, and S. Thermophilus in cellulose base. This product also contains silica and magnesium stearate in a vegetable capsule (200 mg capsule). There is a minimum of 10 billion grams of probiotic microorganisms per one gram.

Each package contains 120 small capsules. Capsules may be pulled apart and the powder added to liquid or food if desired.

Winter weight gain? Dietitian on ABC TV suggests a fiber supplement.

All of winter’s social gatherings may have led to winter weight gain, especially if your physical activity didn’t match up to all the chips, cookies and breads you enjoyed over the season. Celebrity health author and nutrition expert Felicia Stoler, DCN, MS, RD, FACSM appeared on ABC’s Local Memphis Live to share some tips to help repair your winter-weary body. The author of Living Skinny in Fat Genes says most people don’t get enough fiber in their diets. She suggests a fiber supplement, such as Sunfiber. This gluten-free powder is easy to use and, paired with exercise, can help you get your body ready for spring.

Although not everyone is affected by seasonal weight gain, some surveys have shown that the average person gains five to seven pounds over the winter. “It’s all about energy balance,” said Stoler. “Energy in vs. energy out: It’s about the calories you eat vs. the exercise that you do.” She mentioned that food selection can also be a challenge: “There is so much misinformation out there about the right foods to eat.”

Stoler shared that the latest dietary guidelines acknowledge that many people are not consuming the recommended levels of certain nutrients. “We need more fiber in our diet,” she said. “And it’s not enough to just see the words ‘whole grain’. You actually need to look at the label and look at the fiber amount that is in there,” she added. The Institute of Medicine recommends adult women consume 25 grams of fiber a day, and men get 38 grams a day.

“If you can’t get it from the foods you eat, I suggest taking a supplement,” said Stoler. She suggested gluten-free Sunfiber. “There are not very many gluten-free fiber products on the market. And, you can bake with it or put it in your water or coffee.” Sunfiber is tasteless, odorless and colorless, and it’s easy to use.

Sunfiber helps with weight control by providing a feeling of fullness, or satiety. This versatile supplement also helps moderate blood sugar levels by managing the glycemic index of foods.
